My journey with Qatar Airways was great except my Nigeria leg experience which was hellish. First on my DOH to LOS leg (arrived 19th Nov 2021 at around 7:15 am), one of my 3 bags was not delivered due to short transit time, but when the bag arrived Lagos on same day at 2:30 pm, the bag was already damaged.
Secondly, when returning to Abu Dhabi, I had 3 bags of 23kg each as a Priviledge club Silver member. I did my weighing several times at home and discovered that I had extra 7 kg, so I bought 9 kg excess at AED191. On getting to the airport, I used a porter service. The porter on entering the airport, asked one guy to help me weigh my bags so that I will be sure and not get delayed. The guy did the weighing and the airport scale showed that I had extra 15kg. I refused to believe this because I weighed already and I had 2 kg unused. They went to another weighing scale in the same airport and still same 15 kg extra came up. I was confused and I was asked to pay $100. On getting to the Qatar Airways check-in point, the same guy took me there, he spoke with the ground staff and the ground staffs asked me to do the passport checks and other protocols, which I did. Now when my bags was put on the scale at Qatar Airways Priviledge check-in point, behold, I had 2kg unused exactly as I weighed at home. However, the guy and the potter were no where to be found. My question now is: “how come the Qatar Airways ground staff allow a non-staff to come around the check-in area and not alert the security?”. The miscreant talked with them and the guys on ground know him very well. Infact, one of the ground staffs made a statement when I asked him if he saw the guy, “that he is not part of any evil act” .
This is my sad and painful experience. Otherwise, the flight was perfect, good aircraft, great service and professionalism of the cabin crew. Only the ground experience was bitter.
